KADUNA’S ROAD TO REVIVAL: KARATUDU-ROMI PROJECT IS UNDERWAY

By Nehemiah Anini for The Chronicles of Construction

Thirteen years is a long time for a promise to remain unfulfilled. For the residents of Karatudu and Unguwan Romi in Kaduna State, it’s a period marked by the absence of a crucial piece of infrastructure: the Karatudu-Romi road. This long-abandoned project, first initiated during the administration of the late Governor Patrick Yakowa, has finally been given a new lease on life. In a move that signals a renewed focus on grassroots development, Governor Uba Sani has officially broken ground, kickstarting the construction that will connect and uplift these communities.

Governor Sani, during the groundbreaking ceremony, didn’t mince words. He spoke of a government that prioritizes rural development, particularly in areas where the less privileged reside. The governor’s commitment is a stark contrast to the political neglect that has plagued the area for over a decade. He promised the road would be completed in a swift eight months, a testament to the chosen contractor’s competence and the administration’s resolve. “We keep our promises. We don’t play tricks with politics. We focus on projects that people can see and benefit from,” he stated, drawing a clear line between his administration’s approach and that of past politicians.

The Karatudu-Romi road project is not an isolated effort. Governor Sani’s administration is weaving a larger tapestry of development across the state. The project will also include the rehabilitation of other vital feeder roads, such as Cemetery Road, Lusawa Road, School Road to Karatudu, and Jemaa Road. This integrated approach ensures that the benefits of the new infrastructure reach a wider population. The governor also highlighted other ongoing and future projects, including the Keke to Makera road and the soon-to-begin Television-Kaduna Garage-Sabon Tasha road, which will connect four electoral wards. The recently completed Water Intake Road further demonstrates the government’s momentum. This comprehensive strategy, from awarding over 83 road contracts to targeting previously neglected areas, marks a new chapter in Kaduna’s infrastructure story. The focus is on tangible, beneficial projects that genuinely improve the lives of residents. This is more than just construction; it is a commitment to building a more connected, accessible, and prosperous Kaduna for all. The foundations of a better tomorrow are being laid, one road at a time
