Chronicles of Construction at KADAF 3.0: Capturing the Spirit of Architectural Resilience

By The Chronicles of Construction Team
Kaduna, Nigeria – October 22–23, 2025

The Chronicles of Construction once again made its mark as Nigeria’s leading media platform for the built environment, delivering full audiovisual and photographic coverage of the Kaduna Architects Forum (KADAF 3.0) — a grand two-day gathering themed “Building a Nigerian Resilient Future: Architecture, Risk, and Sustainability.”

This comprehensive media coverage was graciously sponsored by Arc (Sir) ‘Muyiwa Ige, FNIA, a passionate supporter of architectural advancement and one of the nation’s most respected voices in the profession.

KADAF 3.0 brought together some of the brightest minds and most distinguished figures in the architectural community, including:

  • Arc (Dr.) Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA, PNIA – President, Nigerian Institute of Architects (NIA)
  • Arc Sani Saulawa, FNIA – President-Elect
  • ARCON President represented by Arc Biola Akinola mnia
  • Arc Goke Omigbodun, FNIA – National Treasurer
  • Arc (Dr) John Bawa Mnia – National Chair – Student Affairs
  • Arc David Majekodunmi, FNIA – Former Chairman, NIA Lagos Chapter
  • Arc Biodun Fatuyi, FNIA – Current Chairman, NIA Lagos Chapter

and several senior architects, educators, and young professionals from across the country.

During an exclusive interview with The Chronicles of Construction, Arc (Dr.) Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA, PNIA, described the forum’s theme as timely and globally relevant.

“This theme is very apt because we are at a time in our lives, not just within Kaduna but on a global scale, when we must talk about resilience — in our buildings, in our designs, and in the environment as a whole. The World Architecture Day 2025 itself was themed ‘Building with Strength’ — and that’s exactly what we need to do: build strong, adaptively, and sustainably.”

The president’s remarks echoed throughout the event, reminding participants that architecture remains central to the conversation around resilience, risk management, and sustainability in today’s Nigeria.

Also speaking with our correspondent, Miss Ramlat Hajiya Mohammed, President of the Nigerian Association of Architectural Students (NAAS) and a student of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, emphasized the importance of youth participation in shaping the profession. She extended an open invitation to all students to attend the upcoming NIA Biennial General Meeting (BGM) scheduled for November 25–29, 2025, calling it “a platform for learning, exposure, and professional networking.”

Sir (Arc) Muyiwa Ige: Supporting the Story of Architecture

In his goodwill message, Arc (Sir) ‘Muyiwa Ige, FNIA, commended the organizers of KADAF for creating such a meaningful professional forum. He described it as “a true reflection of what architecture stands for — creativity, resilience, and service.”

He further praised Prof. Evelyn Kangkum’s presentation for its depth and relevance, He also threw a friendly challenge to the Kaduna Chapter, asking, “What are the proposed future uses of the dilapidated facilities dotting the Kaduna landscape?” — a statement that drew applause and inspired empowerment and continuous professional development.

As the sponsor of the Chronicles of Construction media coverage, Sir ‘Muyiwa Ige’s support ensured that every moment of KADAF 3.0 — from keynote sessions to the handover of the NIA Kaduna Chapter leadership from Arc Stephen J. Filiya, FNIA, to Arc Binta Otman, MNIA — was beautifully captured and documented.

Our correspondent, Mariam Sani, led the Chronicles crew in full event coverage — from interviews with dignitaries and students to red-carpet moments and audience reactions.

In an interview with our team, outgoing Chapter Chairman Arc Stephen J. Filiya, FNIA, reflected on the origins of KADAF:

“KADAF was conceived after NIA’s 50th anniversary in Kaduna. We realized the importance of celebrating architects and recognizing their contributions to society, policy, and development.”

He expressed joy at the event’s success and optimism for the chapter’s new leadership.
